3Sister's Beauty Supply
are the first black owned beauty supply in our area to openly speak about how we feel about the
current state of the black hair care industry. So it goes without saying that we would experience
problems with distributors not wanting to sell products to us. However we did not expect an article
to be written about our store in a leading National Hair publication.
On June 18th 3 Sister's Beauty Supply had an article written about the store and our encounters
in opening our beauty supply store published in the North Dallas Gazette. (Read article from
North Dallas Gazette here.) We were uncertain how much information we should discuss in the
article, but felt it necessary to inform our customers of the situations that we were running in to.
We knew there was a possibility that there would be some comments about the article.
On June 27, 2009 an article was published about 3 Sister's Beauty Supply by Beauty Times.
Beauty Times is a leading national publication among the hair care industry distributors and the
entire website is written in Korean. I found the article on their website at www.beauty-times.com I
am not certain what the article says as it is written in Korean. (View the article in Korean) I used
the Goggle tool to translate the article, but the interpretation is not accurate and the article does
not make since. (View the online translation of the article)
I am in the process of locating someone that is willing and able to translate the article without
altering the content. I need a verbatim translation of the article in its entirety. If any of my
customers or anyone that just wants to help can contact me, I would be very grateful to have the
article read to me so that I can understand it and so that I can share it with my customers as well.
Final Note: It is unfortunate that it is 2009 and we still face these sorts of issues and that the very
people who display this blatant racism are the same ones who try and act as if this discriminatory
action does not exist.
If everyone were given a fair chance and your business succeeded beyond others because of the
service that you provide as opposed to this created monopoly, then maybe there would be no
argument among the people that you are providing your services to.

than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence."
